Tuesday's progress

A little progress on Christine's Rose Garden. Now don't get me wrong, I think the pattern itself is very nice. I have changed how some of the decreases are performed just to give it a little more interest....but the bottom line is I still don't like working in acrylic, even the softer stuff !

Better Late than Never

House guests come with good and bad. The good is the visiting, the grownup conversations, the making it worthwhile cooking a proper dinner.....the bad is the taking them to the airport to leave and the lack of knitting while they are here.

I finished up Mystic Light today, five days after the final clue came out.

Ain't she purdy ???

A little more of this and take two on that

The baby blanket grows and the Mystery Lace is (mostly) corrected. I see at least one decrease that is not centered....but that is the last time I want to knit that bit ~~~

A Little Bit of This, A Little Bit of That

The "this" is Christine's Rose Garden baby blanket in Bernat Baby and using size 3 needles. Ages ago I joined the knit along for this, but I needed to locate at least one more ball of the yarn before I started. I did, and I have. This is clue 1, and as I started late if I want to I can knit it straight as all the clues are published. :) Macky approves, but says he would change just a couple of stitches.

The "that" is the first clue to Mystery Lace. This is the first knit along hosted by this particular designer and she hasn't quite found her feet yet. The swatch was published with errors in it, and then the first two attempts at uploading the chart for the first clue were unknittable as written. She fixed that either late yesterday or early today so I went ahead and gave it one more try. I knit a little differently from the designer, so I think that some of my decreases are actually leaning the wrong way, but we will see in the next clue (when the beading starts too !) how much of an impact that will have.

The RIGHT picture for the second Mystic Light

Fo Friday

Yep, just finished clues this week.

Nice double pic there - M

WIP Wednesday on Friday

My card reader was kidnapped to go to the Drama Queen's photography class, so today is the first chance I have had to upload pics.

This is my "waiting for the knit along clue" knitting and will serve as the portable project that I will need next week while sitting in a waiting room at Childrens's Hospital.

I'm a Maniac on Monday

Clue 4 for SoBN came out on Friday.....the usual 40 rows of lace work followed by the instructions to repeat all four clues three to three and a half times before the next clue comes out. The next two clues will be for the border and the edging. So far I have done one repeat and it is already nearly four feet long. I might have to stop after two repeats depending on how much more this grows.

The yarn for the next kal arrived yesterday...finally got to do the swatch and test the beads as well.

Mystery Lace, an intermediate design with experienced options...sounds like fun

There has been Knitting, really

We have had wonderful weather, here in my neck of the woods, the past two days. A couple of little sprinkly showers and LOTS of sunshine.

The veggie garden has been dug over....the boys were amused that I didn't pull the "weeds" first, but they were actually a cover crop and I WANT those chopped up bits of green matter in the dirt. We have also added peat moss and I plan on picking up some others amendments to add before the plants go in.

There has been knitting and eating going on, I just am a little behind on the knitting as I have been outside most of the day.

I will have to do WIP Friday instead of WIP Wednesday this week. :)

More tomorrow, got to get those needles clicking.

Sunday Catch-Up

SoBN is progressing, I still can't make head nor tails of what that design is supposed to represent...maybe clue 4 will help ?

In other knitting news, tank top in DMC Denim Senseo....hope I have enough. The design is my own so it can be adjusted if needed.

Drizzly Friday

It took me until 9pm to finish the second go round on Mystic Light...but there is a reason. Yep, that is ceiling in the basement you see starting to go up !!!! It is great to have my Dad feeling well enough to help, working on attaching things to the "thin air" above your head is not easy.

Even with help my shoulders are killing me and I wish they would hurry up and get the job done.

My knitting light died....knitting along on the last row of Mystic Light and out it goes.....it is an ancient florescent affair that give plenty of light to knit by. I don't have any idea if they even make those bulbs anymore. But I guess that after I finish up the ceiling I will be finding out. :) Yes the shawl is the same color as earlier in the week, but it was dark when I took the pic...I have been doing natural lighting for them in the past.

Thursday's musings

Well I didn't get kicked off my knit along....three people ended up posting that they agreed with me that knit alongs were not a competative sport LOL but sometimes even I treat them as such. Clue 2 in the originally chosen yarn is complete, the yarn is growing on me as the pattern gets bigger, but we'll see which one I like best when they are both done. :)

The gray tweed silk/wool/cotton yarn is knitting up very comfy....but it is heavy ! So that I don't pull the stitches I have to rest the bulk of the shawl on my desk while I knit....which would be fine but it puts an extra torque on my hands...which would be fine but....

We have this tree out front, can't remember it's name right this second, it will come to me later. Beautiful red berries on it all winter long and the favorite hangout for the American Robins.....it also comes with fairly thin yet deadly 3 inch thorns and it is trying it's best to send up lots of little trees all through my flower bed.

You don't want to know how I know that it is possible to jab one of those thorns right the way through between the bones in your hand.

Me and My Big Mouth

It was a beautiful day today...so even though I was excited that the next clue for Mystic Light was there on the group page at nine this morning, instead of spending all my time knitting I was out in the sunshine doing yard work....when I came back in Yahoo was not liking me at all. Every group that I have belonged to for less than a year is just gone......I am glad I printed the chart before I went outside :)

However, I get emails of all the messages that were posted each day, so I was able to see what everyone else was doing and it ticked me off. Amongst the Glad to see the Second Clue, and the I have changed my mind about my yarn were some heartwrenching I am a terrible person who deserves to be crying and doing penance because my clue 1 isn't done yet...

For crying out loud, this is knitting. It is not life threatening if you do not keep up with the group or if you don't understand something....but the grief that some of these women were putting themselves through was just horrible......I emailed in a post.....it said all that and more.......I wonder how it was recieved ?

And the answer is well :)

Can't wait for tomorrow

Two versions of the same item will mean that I will be knitting my fingers off when I get the next hint for Mystic Light tomorrow. It is all good though, you wouldn't want me sitting around doing nothing would you ?

When the Drama Queen got home from school she saw how the tank top was turning out and decided that yes it was TOO loud.....good thing I stopped after four or five inches to see what she thought, that was frogged before she was even done getting out her homework. I can knit with my eyes shut, but usually I do that just to show people that yes I really was watching the tv show, movie, whatever, see I don't need to look at what I am doing.....this was so loud and bright that I almost had to knit with my eyes shut for the little bit I did.

Two more bookmarks are blocking now and I am DONE with teacher gifts....YAY.....now all I need is the gift cards to go with them and I will be set.

~Mary

oh yeah, food.....I had veggies today, there is nothing quite like fresh veggies. :)
