Tips that the Desk might belong to a knitter

How many things about this desk tell you it belongs to a knitter? Obviously the project on the surface gives it away but can you spot the others?

Good Morning Campers

There has been knitting, lots of knitting - knitting in fabulous materials like cashmere that feels like knitting with butter. There was a trip to a LYS that I had never been to before, that is so close to work I can go on a lunch break. There was a sock in red tones for one dear son, most of the edging of VOI....

I can't show you any of it!

Does anyone know where the cable for my camera is?

Today there will be : mowing and weeding, digging and planting. It is finally spring outside Columbus Ohio!

If you give a Hoot

Now, hopefully someone who is a little bit of an eco-freak and who happens to be doing a field study involving birds in Ohio doesn't read this blog. If you happen to be her and are....forget you ever saw this, and it probably isn't for you anyway!!!

Stats :

Owls
Cascade Ecological Wool Just over 1 skein. (They are big, go check them out!)
Size 10 and 10.5 US circular needles
Modifications - none.

This is a fabulous pattern, even if the long stretch of plain knit rounds was a little boring - made great movie watching knitting though!- and it knits up very quickly.
I still need to find buttons for the owls eyes and it hasn't been blocked yet, but Christmas is a long way away. :)

Still here

Nothing on the knitting front to show you - there has been tons of knitting, just nothing I can share.:)

Blocking silk : Yep, silk blocks marvelously. As the silk I was using was from Colourmart it did require a good washing in hot soapy water to get the machine oils out of my shawl. I didn't rub, just pushed soap bubbles through, over and over and over again until the oil slicks stopped appearing on the surface of my water. I find that silk is a little more delicate than a wool yarn - I have never "popped" my knitting when blocking merino, but I have ripped silk when I over blocked it.

If you have money burning a hole in your pocket check out some of the sales happening over at WEBS They have just the yarn for Owls so they got some of my pocket change. :)

Still working away on VOI as baby blanket, luckily I have had other things on the needles too as I am finding it a bit repetitive (come to think of it the other things were a little that way too!) It is a fabulous design, I think that it is a "keeper" and may well become my stock baby blanket for expectant moms.
