It's Red, Cashmere, Cobweb and a Semi Circle

Even having worked myself back down to knitting with the thinner yarn, the circular start handed me back my needles more times than I care to count!

Anna of KnitandKnag offers Mystic Star in two versions, the circle and a semi-circle. Looks like I will not only have two colors, but two shapes as well. :)

Still plugging away on the socks, waiting to hear if we have moved from a Level 2 to a Level 3 snow emergency!

Be safe if you are suffering from the winter weather!

It is not Red, Cashmere or Cobweb

Four failed attempts at starting Mystic Star with the cobweb and I moved onto the tencel....obviously switching from a heavy sock yarn to the smaller, thinner thread was not working for me!

Now to move on and see if the "step between" yarn has got my fingers ready for the cobweb yarn.

Finally some pictures

Not all that I had planned on uploading, but finally blogger will take my pics. They weren't making it as far as my album before, it just kept taking me back to the "upload photo's" screen after claiming to be loading for a bit. :)

We have :

Monkey socks in Patons Stretch Sock Just as quick as everyone claimed, I just wish that the yarn wasn't so busy you can't see the lovely lace pattern.

My own JamacaMistake in progress, that one is finished now and I am nearly to the goof on the second one. I entirely skipped two rounds of the pattern stitch in the third repeat and didn't notice until I was already turning the heel....laziness left the mistake in. They will be a one of a kind sock forever.

A little stash enhancement courtesy of Bad Cat Designs and Colourmart. When Andrea sends out a Thank You gift for test knitting her designs, she goes all out - Now I just need a pattern that will do the Jade Sapphire Mongolian Cashmere 2 ply justice. The other cashmere and cotton cones are ones that I ordered from Colourmart - I had so much fun with the hemlock ring blanket that I am planning on doing family gifts of various large scale lace doilies for Christmas 2009. It is never too early to plan, even if knowing me I will be knitting these yarns in December.

Somewhere in there is also a picture of the swatch for Mystic Star in the red cobweb from Colourmart. I am still very undecided about which yarn I will use for that, and I don't have long to think as the knit along starts on Monday! It will either be this or the same tencel I used for Mystic Ice.

It is snowing like the dickens outside, so I had better grab my shovel and start digging out the driveway.

Blogger keeps eating my photos

I had this very picture heavy post all planned out...but blogger keeps eating my pictures!

I finished the monkey socks, did a cobweb swatch for Mystic Star to see if I wanted to use some of that instead of the tencel that I had bought for Mystic Ice.

I will try to show you tomorrow.

Snowy Sunday

The question was "What should I knit next?" and the answer is Talia. My model was busy so you only get to see her on the table.

My traveling socks (black) that I work on during my lunch break came home for a minute. I have no idea what yarn that is, who stores yarn in her stash with no labels???? And a last minute addition to the sock pool, someone has been counting down days until her birthday and making comments about socks, Monkey which everyone tells me are a super quick knit - considering I started them last evening I would have to agree.

Big pics coming tomorrow, when I show you what those secret projects were. They officially made their debut to the knitting world yesterday. :)

Hemlock and Unoriginal Hat

The Hemlock Ring Blanket was FUN!! I goofed a little on lining up the feather and fan with the Hemlock, but the Drama Queen won't mind. While I was working on it I did come up with a few things that I would change if I knit it again - maybe it is a sign that I have knit too many Bad Cat Designs projects that I want to add a few twisted stitches. :) At 59 inches across I fell a little short of my goal of making a six foot throw.

The hat was super quick on size 11 needles using a long discontinued yarn called Textures. Hate the yarn, but the hat turned out ok.

Only a few weeks until Mystic Star starts up. I wonder what I should knit in the meantime ?

WIP Weds

Another pair of socks, gotta love worsted weight kids socks for the instant gratification. Dear Son number 1 wore these all day and didn't want to part with them at bedtime. They were knit to his specs in his colors. :)

The Drama Queen will be turning 13 in a couple of weeks, along with a redecoration of her room she will be getting a Hemlock Ring Blanket - It is going really fast on size 10.5 US needles in a light worsted, heavy sport yarn from Lion Brand. Easy care for the gal that doesn't like to help with the laundry. :)

Two and Three

Ok, so it is cheating really to say that the socks are a 2009FO when they were started in 2008. I actually get a lunch break at my job now (something I hadn't had for 5 years) and I use it to knit a few rounds on socks each day. They were finished today, which technically makes them the 3rd finished object on the 3rd day of the year - bet I can't keep that up!! :) The yarn for these was CHEAP - Patons Kroy Socks in Denim Jacquard on size 1 US needles...just your everyday Plain Jane 64 stitch socks...the yarn does all the work. They are fraternal socks, I suppose I can't really complain about the nasty join in the yarn, but in future I will wind it before I knit it instead of working from the ball so I know ahead of time where the joins are in each ball.

The bookmark was to use up some scraps from Mystic Ice, I will be using the same yarn for Mystic Star.

Catch ya later, I still have Christmas things to take down. :(

The first FO of 2009

If I had pushed a little harder, I would have finished this up yesterday - but there were people to chat with, movies to watch with kids....so today was good enough.

Mystic Ice by Anna Dalvi of KnitandKnag
Yarntopia Treasures Tencel Lace in Sapphires with size 1 US needles. (These are a lot, I mean a LOT smaller than what Anna called for, but I liked the look)
Mystic Ice is 64 inches across the top with a drop of just under 35 inches, so just perfect for The Drama Queen and myself. :)

Mystic Star is next, run on over and sign up. :)

Happy New Year!!
