A Quick Project from the BadCat

Andrea of Bad Cat Designs is filling up my needles again.

This time around she says it will be a quick project, and seeing as it is designed for fingering to sport weight yarn and only requires 600 meters I think she is probably right.

The first chart goes up right after Halloween and we will be done around Thanksgiving.

Check it out here : BadCatDesigns

Knitter's Rule

Well I am sure that you know that I feel that Knitter's Rule...but the picture is of a different interpretation of the words. :)

This is my prize from the Secret of the Stole Three Knit Along that was designed and hosted by DK the Nautical Knitter, who it just so happens is having a contest on her blog where you can win a goodie for helping her pick her next project. Quick click on the name and run over there to vote, I'll wait for you. :)

Back ? Ok, as I was saying, the picture above is a Knitter's Rule from Karat Stix, sorry haven't looked for a link for that yet, and it is fabulous. Just the right size to be in with my traveling knitting (right now a sock that I am working on during my lunch breaks) and the snow flakes are very like the ones that are knitted into the stole.

Truth be told, this is not something I would have purchased for myself. I see no reason to NOT spend money on yarn, but would have made do with my plastic knitters gauge for the rest of my life. Now I have a nicer tool and I am thrilled with it.

Who needs sleep anyway ?

I shouldn't have, but I did......how could I not ?

Anna of Knit and Knag is staring another knit along once Mystic Earth has finished. Called Mystic Ice this shawl (square or triangle, your choice) draws it's inspiration from the icicles found in early and late winter.

You know you want to, so why not sign up here and join the fun.

Sleep is overrated, right ?

Behind-er

Can you see the theme in my bad pictures ? Mystic Earth is at about the half way point here, if you look really carefully you can see that the leaves start in spring and have matured through summer. Clue 3 is obviously then Autumn and the final clue will be winter. There is just enough back side patterning on this to keep it really interesting and to make it more than idle tv knitting.

Unfortunately the idle TV knitting hit a major snag - I really didn't have enough yarn to knit Dear Son Number Two's Christmas sweater all in the moss green. Rather than have half the front and one sleeve be different it hit the frog pond and I have located enough of a contrast color to make the design I want work, just differently.

Hope you have been having a good week, mine seems to have been spent running in circles....

She does have a face

The Drama Queen had a concert at school - there are pics on the kids blog which can be found here

All school year I have been telling her to wear her hair up instead of that cloud around her face, after the concert she announced that she got so many compliments on the updo that maybe she would wear her hair up to school. :)

The White Rabbit said....

Yes, Mystic Earth clue 1 was VERY LATE. I finished it up last night, only 12 hours after the second clue was published. :(

Oh well, Bank Holiday on Monday, I can catch up then.

Bad Blogger.

Yes, I am a very bad blogger just recently. This having to work in the mudane real world puts a serious dent in my knitting time ! Of course being behind hasn't stopped me from casting on for yet another project so that I can get even behinder. :)

Friday I finally found out what the blue funky shaped "could it be a "g-string, thong, cell phone cosy" mystery" was. It turned into a slipper (amazing what a couple of seams will do. All it needs now is a mate and some buttons. The Drama Queen tried it on and gave it her stamp of approval, she might find them in her stocking at Christmas or maybe a different pair in purple.....hmm that's right I was already behind wasn't I ?

Secret of the Stole Three is so very nearly complete, the final hint comes out on Friday and I am ready for it. I am dying to see this blocked properly.

Mystic Earth......yeah, well I am not sure that I will be ready for clue 2 on Tuesday, just about half way through clue one....so why I am here typing when I got knitting to do ?!?!?!?!?

See ya !

Me Either !

Remember I said about the Holiday Mystery Gift group on Yahoo ? Well, this week in addition to the free Wednesday and Saturday full patterns there is a mystery knit. Each day for seven days a clue is given, and thus far the clues have been VERY manageable even with all the other stuff I have going on at the moment. As the mystery calls for 300 yards of yarn I am sure that during one of the remaining four days I am going to get knitters shock (similar to sticker shock but involving the number of stitches/rows instead of price) and fall behind ! Thus far I have no idea what I am knitting, but maybe tomorrow's hint will help.

Speaking of falling behind, Anna Dalvi of KnitandKnag has posted the first of the four clues for Mystic Earth. Yet again she is teaching me new techniques. This time around the first edging is knit before the rest of the piece and then continues in Orenburg style with the borders knit at the same time as the body of the work. So far there is minimal back side patterning, which is good as I like the quiet return rows. Now as to the falling behind, there are 119 body rows in the clue that was released yesterday - I am on row 10. :(

I am getting it all in, however....I might have overextended myself just a little.
