Another Quote

Courage is the discovery that you may not win, and trying when you know you can lose."

~Tom Krause

I have no knitting content for you so I have amused myself by looking up random quotes.

Somewhere in them I hope to find inspiration for myself to be myself and find happiness in the things I used to enjoy.

I would say I need a kick in the pants to get me moving, but right now that would just knock me over.

Maybe tomorrow.

quote of the day

Anyone can give up, it's the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that's true strength.

~Unknown

I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some come from behind. But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!

No knitting content, feel free to skip this post

There is no knitting content today, mostly because I think that since I last posted I have knit a grand total of 100 stitches.

The Yarn Harlot has a saying that I read, I think it must have been in one of her books as I can't find it on her web site, but anyhow, the saying that I read was:

It will all be ok when it is over.....if it isn't ok, it just isn't over yet.

Which is beginning to beg the question, then when will it be over? Every time I think that I see the slightest glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel, suddenly I hear the roar of the oncoming train engine.

We are nearly a quarter of the way through the year and all I have to say about 2011 thus far is...

Go ahead, BITE ME!

Unfortunately, it already did.

3.14

Only if you are in North America, I know that Europeans write their dates differently, but today is 3.14.2011, skip the 2011 and you have

3.14

Which also happens to be...

Pi.

Happy Pi Day!

The Fickleness of Knitters

Well, this knitter anyway.

Cables or lace? Which is your favorite poison, I mean knitting technique?

For a long time if I had been asked that question I would have said "Cables!", hands down, cables were my favorite. Then I got better at reading charts and suddenly lace was the answer to all my knitting needs and yearning.

Now?

Well, now I think that you could say that I am fickle.

Cables? Well, yes, certainly cables!

Lace? Of course I love lace.

That might be why I have two fairly large projects on the go.

For those who love cables we have version two of St Margaret, or Madam as I fondly refer to my gray house sweater. :)

I know it doesn't look like I have got very far since last you saw her, but truth be told, this is start number 3, and rather than jinx myself I am not going to say anything at all about all the cables going the right directions now...nope, not a sound coming out of my lips.

And for those who love lace, well there is yet another variation of Metamorphosis!

The body is fresh off the needles, looking like lace usually does when it is fresh like that. Bunchy and small and not particularly beautiful.

But add some of this :
Followed by some pins and you get this.

Not perfectly blocked, just good enough to give me an idea of when to stop knitting on sleeves.

While I wait for that to dry, it is back to cables for me for the evening.

What's on your needles?

Blogging Friends are the BEST ever!

Not very long ago this knitter posted a little link that pretty much summed up how she feels, all about balls and juggling and dropping and generally being at odds with the world. The world is still doing its thing, and the knitter is still at odds with it, dropping balls seems to just be part of the juggling act.

I certainly dropped the Spirit ball, not as in faith but as in will to be anything more than just be. I go to work and put forth enough effort, I do just enough housework and teach just about enough school. I balance my checkbook well enough to not pay bank fees. I knit just enough to keep my sanity.

And then today I got home to find a package.

The package contained this note :
Cuddled up to that note was this:
Finally a ball that I don't have to worry about dropping, one I can just love!

Amanda, you made me cry, but in a good way.
