Monday Musings

 Well, hello!

It has been a while, and I am sure the same old excuses are getting old!  But, maybe now that summer is over I can get back into some kind of routine.

How was your summer?

Mine was filled with ridiculous things like knitting clock faces, giant doilies to go on hula hoops, getting used to new routines and then having them shattered for a few weeks, lots of veggie gardening and not enough keeping up with actually publishing patterns!  There are so many coming up in the next few weeks it makes my head spin.

Annina, Tanja and I have also been getting ready for this years After Party Gals Mystery Sock Along; although I have to admit I am a bit behind on getting my socks knitted up and we have something really special in the works for before that event starts.

But, that is enough for today!  Hopefully this writing things down will stick and I will be back Wednesday with some more WiP's.

Welcome Fall

After nearly three years of not going to fiber festivals, I think we can all say I made up for it in one frenzied day of shopping!

Heliantheae- Not Silent

I should have written this blog post on Friday...but with events in the news, doomscrolling, being angry and frustrated, I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Who wants to hear about a new pattern release when the news looks the way it does?

Maybe you?  Maybe you need a distraction from current events?

Presenting Heliantheae!

This 7/8ths of a circle shawl was my answer to TDQ's keep planting sunflowers in the hopes of having them bloom, only to have the wild rabbits that frequent our garden eat them!  (Not that I blame the rabbits, I find sunflower micro-greens to be very tasty, too!)

Started in June of 2021, the pattern is now available on Knotions, and Ravelry.

Worked in a lace weight yarn, in two colors, with two colors of beads, this shawl is definitely not going to be eaten by pesky rabbits!

But back to current events.

From now, until I decide to change it, all proceeds (probably rounded up to the nearest round number) from my Dissent Pattern will be donated to Planned Parenthood and Plan C

While I would love for you to buy the pattern, I would be equally happy if you just made a donation to either of those worthy, and needed, causes.  In case you would like to make a donation in the name of someone else, may I suggest a Supreme Court Justice of your choice, with any Thankyou Cards being mailed to:

Their name

1 First Street, NE
Washington, DC 20543

Until next time...try to find hope, register to vote if you are eligible and not registered, then get out to vote when election day roles around.

I put my money where my mouth is

While I don't have pictures as taking pictures of the roof of my house is much more difficult than I thought it would be..I put my money where my mouth is and had 14 solar panels installed today.

Will they save me money? Today, no. At best my electric bill decrease will cover the payments for the panels (with a loan at 1.9% it didn't make sense to pay cash when my investments are making more than that) but with the rising costs of electricity maybe tomorrow the answer will be yes.

Do they get me away from any "burning" of stuff to get that electricity..Yes!

In the greater world wide climate crisis will my solar panels make a big difference?  No, but we have to start somewhere and I am putting my money where my mouth is and saying we have to get away from burning fossil fuels where and when we can.
