Shush Now

If only I could "shush" some of the thoughts that are running around my head now...A year plus on...we're all still standing but in far different shoes!

Wip's on Wednesday...how many?

How many projects do you usually have on the go at any one time?

Lately I seem to have settled into a routine of only having four or five projects going at any one time.

This weeks I have two pairs of socks...only one pictured, the other is a secret!

A light weight shawl...

and

A completely frivolous piece of fun.  (That's just got to the bind off and still might end up frogged as I am concerned I put too much fabric between the knitted in led lights.)

What's on your needles this week?

A Finished Friday Post

Well, the knitting is finished...the pattern is still in progress but...it will be Starry, Starry Lights!

The LED lights are knit into the piece and then it is attached to a large floral or macrame ring!

There is a second variation that is a bit lacier on my needles now!  My best guess is this one will be ready for test knitters sometime next week or the week after, unless my COVID-19 vaccine kicks me in the behind!

As always if you are interested in test knitting for me...sign up on Ravelry...here! (A Ravelry acct is required...I don't have any way of hosting test knits anywhere else.)

Wip Wednesday

Wallpapering, refurbishing a vintage door bell (it plays Westminster Chimes!), a sock and some lace...

What's on your needles this WiP Wednesday?

Combination Plate Socks

As the saying goes, necessity if the mother of invention!

In 2019 my ankle high boots that I had been wearing for years finally were so worn out that there was no saving them..then 2020 hit and going shoe shopping in person was not something that I was up for doing.

I ordered some boots for days where I didn't need "snow boots" but needed more than dress shoes or sneakers (tennis shoes, trainers, running shoes..depending on where you hail from)  from an online retailer and was shocked and amazed when they actually fit!  Maybe a little too well.

When the days grew dark and the mornings were cold (but not snowy or icy) I found that my thicker socks made my boots feel just a touch tight and my thinner socks left my ankles cold!

Introducing Combination Plate Socks...worsted weight yarn legs with fingering weight yarn for the heel and foot were perfect!

TDQ then wanted "springy" socks that could be pulled up or slouched down (and wanted to call them Tigger Socks because she thought they looked like Tigger's Tail...Disney enforces their rights pretty rigorously...so my original name stuck!) but all in one weight...so a Trio of patterns was born.

Hers are all in fingering weight yarn...Low Carb if you will.

And then...TFB needed socks to go in his winter steel toed boots...and a Full Fat Version was added.

You can find all three patterns in both my Ravelry and Payhip stores...Love Crafts will be coming soon, they always seem to take a bit longer!

You can buy the patterns individually or add all three to your shopping cart to get a significant discount. (On Payhip start with Combination Plate to get the discount on the other patterns!)

My test knitters had a lot of fun with these and I hope you do too!

Until next time...

Happy Knitting!

Fresh Starts

Well hello, sadly neglected blog.  It's been a while!

This time, or thereabouts, last year was when the world as we (my family) knew it changed.  In person work was suspended for many and the words "capacity" and "essential workers" became part of our daily vocabulary.

In some ways my world changed a lot, and in others...not at all.

TDQ was working in the legal field and still is, in person each day as the paperwork still required..paper!  TOB in manufacturing and that, too, continued in person each day as he was supporting the very machinery that allows people to buy goods and services and TFB was adapting to fully online "hands on" training in college...and a graduation ceremony that had no audience, or even participants, but came in a box.

Through it all I was knitting and writing patterns, but in a lot of cases didn't go through the rest of the steps to publish and blamed it all on having the attention span of a gnat. (Which is true, I drifted from thing to thing..new inspiration to oh this other idea would work better!)

Like many others...I've been dying for a change of scenery and while we now have a vaccine and tomorrow...tomorrow!...I can try finding an appointment to get one...I don't think that travel is going to be something I am up for in the very near future and days, weeks, months of staring at the same walls has finally become too much...so...

I am going to give myself that change of scenery, in more ways than one!

I will finally change this...

to something I have wanted for ages but got talked out of on more than one occasion. Get rid of the beige, neutral and go for something with a little more "weight" or "heft" to it.

This will be just the first of the Fresh Starts I plan on making over the next few weeks...we'll see if any of them stick, because in life...like in decorating, the answer isn't what do want to do forever, but what would you like to do next!

Look for knitting content Friday...I am so excited about six pairs of socks that finally got me out of my "it's blursday so I can do that tomorrow" slump!

But tell me, while we wait for them...what do you want to do next?

Cheers!
